New works from 12 new and emerging artists from across the Dutch, English, French and Spanish Caribbean will converge in Caribbean Linked III at the contemporary art studio Atiliers ’89! in Aruba. The exhibition which promises to provide a window into the diverse, and divergent imaginations of the region’s newest visual artists, emerges from the Caribbean Linked residency.
The exhibition comprising films, installations, graffiti, paintings and drawings will feature pieces from 12 Caribbean nations. The artists being featured are: Aiko Roudette (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), Alex Kelly (Trinidad and Tobago), Diego Espinosa (Mexico), Jodi Minnis (The Bahamas), Leasho Johnson (Jamaica), Leo Aguirre (Texas / Aruba), Manuel Mathieu (Haiti), Marvi Johanna Franco Zapata (Colombia / Curacao), Natusha Croes (Aruba), Razia Barsatie (Suriname), Ronald Cyrille (Guadeloupe), and Simone Asia (Barbados).
Caribbean Linked III opens Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 6pm, when attendees will have the opportunity to talk to the artists about their work.
Conceptualized as a “crucial blueprint” to help build and drive awareness about and among Caribbean creative communities, the Caribbean Linked residency programme and art exhibition was founded in 2012.
Caribbean Linked is organized by Ateliers ’89 Foundation in collaboration with ARC Inc. and The Fresh Milk Art Platform Inc. Stichting DOEN is the programme’s main sponsor, and it benefits from additional support from the Mondriaan Foundation and the Prince Claus Fund, as well as a regional and local funding.
The exhibition will continue through to September 25, 2015.
