15 Features for First Caribbean Film Mart

Caribbean Film Mart Selects 15 Features

Fifteen feature film projects ranging from adaptions of classic Caribbean literature to forays into athletics  and the metaphors of doubles have been selected to participate in the inaugural Caribbean Film Mart at the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival (TTFF) 2015. The selected films hail from ten countries across the region and comprise eleven narratives and four documentaries.

The Caribbean Film Mart (CFM) offers the fifteen selected filmmakers the opportunity to network and possibly build relationships with international film producers, sales agents and film funds with the ultimate aim of enabling production and distribution.

The TTFF received over 100 submissions from which they culled the fifteen projects. Five of the films emerge from Trinidad and Tobago, two are from Haiti while the Bahamas, Cuba, Curacao,  the Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Jamaica and Puerto Rico has one each.

The selected filmmakers include Raoul Peck, Storm Saulter, Asha Lovelace, and Arturo Infante. The projects were adjudicated by the TTFF, the Global Foundation of Democracy and Development from the Dominican Republic, the Association for the Development of Art Cinema and Practice from Guadeloupe, the Foundation of New Latin American Cinema in Cuba, and the Regional and International Festival of Cinema of Guadeloupe.

The Caribbean Film Mart is co-financed by the ACP Cultures+ Programme (ACP Group of States), funded by the European Union (European Development Fund), and implemented by the ACP Group of States.

The CFM will be held from 24-27 September at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival takes place 15-29 September, 2015
