Emerald Vibes TV - New Magazine Programme from Montserrat

Sir Howard Fergus speaks to Sharlene Lindsay on Emerald Vibes TV

Emerald Vibes Television is a new online magazine programme emerging from Monserrat. The series, produced by Goldenmedia went live on Monday, December 15, 2014, with its first 14-minute episode ‘What’s in a Word’ focusing on the recently concluded Alliouagana Festival of the Word. 

The show is hosted by multi-talented Sharlene Lindsay and the proposed format will see interviews with local personalities as well as spotlight of special events in Montserrat. The first episode features interviews with Senior Editor of Akashic Books, Ibraham Ahmad, US emerging author Jason Reynolds as well as Montserrat’s own Sir Howard Fergus.  

Jason Reynolds is the author of The Boy in the Black Suit and When I Was the Greatest and recently signed a 10-book deal the Simon & Schuster. Sir Howard is has written extensively about Montserrat’s history and his published works include Montserrat the Last English Colony? Prospects for Independence (1978); and Hugo Versus Montserrat (with E.A. Markham (1989)) and Lara Rains & Colonial Rights. Sir Howard’s poetry has also been widely anthologized appearing in the Penguin Book of Caribbean Verse, Artrage, Writing Ulster, Bim, The New Voices, and Caribbean Quarterly

In a release executive producer and director Nerissa Golden noted, that the show was a long time in coming.

Emerald Vibes has been an idea the production team and I have been discussing for a while and we felt a look at Montserrat's hectic November to January festival season was a good time to kick off the show," Golden explained. 

She remarked that the show wishes to capture the island’s beauty as well as provide a platform for the country’s stories.

"Montserrat is a visually stunning place and we wanted to capture it for our viewers and also as the island continues its reemergence we want to tell the stories of this journey," Golden said.
