Jah9 Brings Dub Treatment to Reggae Month

Singer Jah9 is getting set to rub some dub into the 2014 Reggae Month roster as she delivers The Dub Treatment. The Dub Treatment will be the singer’s first live full set performance since the launch of her debut album New Name in 2013. The event is gearing up to be an eclectic night that will bring more than music to the calendar as it will feature dub on yoga, spoken word, dance, and fashion as well as an exhibition of indigenous and contemporary visual art.

The Dub Treatment is also set to musically light up the debate on marijuana. The event will feature a slew of musicians who will collaborate with Jah9 on a tribute to marijuana. Indeed, Jah9 is also gearing up for the release of ‘For the Love of Kush’ which has been described as a “marijuana mixtape”.

New Name, produced by Rory Stonelove, was released in February 2013 and features the popular title track as well as ‘Jungle’, ‘Preacher Man’ and ‘Avacado’. The singer is also working on a full-length sophomore event for release in 2014.

The Dub Treatment is promising to be more than a celebratory event. According to a release, the event is “thoroughly invested in the mission of community building through self awareness, self expression and holistic wellness”.

The event will take place on Thursday, February 27, at 7:00 pm at the Countryside Club, Kingston, tickets are $700 pre-sold and $1000 at the gate.
