Roots, Rock, Auction: Online Silent Auction to Benefit Alpha Institute

Alpha offers up reggae experiences in Jamaica, New York and London

As a part of its 2017 Reggae Month activities the Alpha Institute (formerly the Alpha Boys School) is staging an online silent auction that proffers up prizes that provide one of a kind items and “reggae experiences” that stretch from Jamaica to the UK. The auction continues Alpha’s bid to leverage its contribution to Jamaican music legacy in order to sustain its music training and skills development services. 

The auction opened on February 1, 2017, and continues through to February 28, 2017. Prizes include stays at the boutique hotels Jakes in Treasure Beach with a meal t Jack Sprat on Jamaica’s south coast and Strawberry Hill in Jamaica’s Blue Mountains. If being in the city, is more your speed, there is also a weekend at Knutsford Court available. 

Dining options are also on this digital auction block with dining on Jerk at Rudies in London of digging into Jamaican dishes at Miss Lily’s in New York being on the list.

The auction is also offering up ‘Alpha Ska’ a serigraph screen print by the late Michael ‘Freestyle’ Thompson and a travel (duffle) bag by Bresheh.

While it is most famed for music, with an impressive alumni, The Alpha Institute also offers training in woodworking, landscaping, barbering, screen printing. It also operates a woodwork shop, screen printing, binding, a music studio and online radio, from which it raises most of its operational funds.
