Tessanne Rocks The Voice and Twitter Explodes: She Could Easily Win Says Adam Levine

The twittersphere exploded with love, admiration and kudos as Jamaican songbird Tessanne took the stage at the blind auditions on Night 2 of NBC’s mega hit television series The Voice on Tuesday, 24 September. The show, now in it’s fifth season returned to television on Monday, 23 September.

News had long broken of Tessanne’s audition and possible appearance in the season premiere. As Monday night approached, anticipation was building, and twitter was abuzz. Alas, the hopes of many were thwarted and bated breaths finally released when it was realized that she would appear on the second night of the show. Even so, it twitter-frenzy had been enough to make Tessanne one of the top trendsThe much loved singer, pictured here at Redbones (2012) seemed to have carried the entire country with her. The #teamTessanne had been reportedly tweeted over 13,000 times.

Tessanne was the final performer on Tuesday night and she delivered a powerful performance belting out Pink’s ‘Try’ with which she quickly caught the interest of all four judges: Adam Levine, Cee-Lo (and his head tattoo), Christina Aguileria, and Blake Shelton, who each vied for her to be on their team, and as @TeamJamaica put it “dem judge ya want Tessanne like how dry peas want fire”.

After delivering what was described as an "epic performance" Tessanne also wooed the judges with her easy, unaffected charm and description of music as her “bread and butter”, a term which quickly earned its own hashtag. Tessanne has been declared an early favourite in the competition with Levine, whose team she selected, saying that she could easily win the show.

Leading up to her appearance, Jamaicans tweeted their frustrations with the wait, a continuation of the thwarted Monday night hopes, but once the singer had appeared their tweets, and joy, runneth over.
